With OneSoil Pro, you can upload and visualize files with electrical conductivity data, either shapefiles or CSV/TXT files from Veris and Geonics. In the future versions, we plan to make it possible to build VRA maps based on uploaded data layers.

There are three steps to using the tool:

  1. Upload a file

  2. Match the attributes

  3. Visualize the data

Upload a file

Click the 'Upload data' button and select 'Electrical conductivity'.

We support the following formats:

  • Shapefile, which will be uploaded as a compressed archive

  • Flat file (.TXT/.CSV) from Veris or Geonics scanners, which will be uploaded as a compressed archive or a file

Match the attributes

If you're uploading a shapefile, the match page will look like this. You can also add a custom attribute and expand the full list of attributes. Remember that only matched attributes will be visualized.

If you upload a file from the Geonics scanner, be sure to select and upload only one shapefile from the archive, depending on the kind of data you prefer to use. The archive structure looks like this:

You can choose between 3 shapefiles to upload:

  • The ECa folder contains 2 shapefiles: ECa_raw.shp (raw data) and ECa_grd.shp (raw data normalized on a standard grid).

  • The products folder contains the products.shp file, which is identical to the ECa_grd.shp file but contains additional attributes (water content, number of zones, etc.).

If you load the whole archive at once, all 3 layers with different data will be visualized. That's why we recommend uploading only one shapefile with the data that you want to visualize. Just remember to load it as an archive. Alternatively, you can delete unnecessary files in the 'Data' tab after the upload.

If you upload a flat file (.TXT/.CSV), we'll pre-match the attributes in the file, so you only need to confirm the selection.

Visualize data

At the visualization stage, we apply the following rules:

  • If there are only zones, we'll visualize these zones in the appropriate fields.

  • If there are only points, we'll interpolate values in these points within the appropriate field boundaries.

  • If there are both zones and points inside a single ZIP file, we'll visualize both.

The results can be found in the 'Data' and 'Field report' (EC data only) tabs. Hover the mouse over a point to see the exact values. You can also compare EC data with any other data layers using the split view feature.

You can also filter out fields that have EC data loaded.

💡 If you upload a file from a different scanner, you can either convert it to the .shp format or fill out the form during the upload stage (with an example of the file, brief information, scanner name, and contact details). This will help us develop the tool further!
